Job Description
We are currently seeking a Safety Officer with strong knowledge of SABIC HSE standards, industrial safety procedures, and construction site safety management.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in oil & gas, petrochemical plants, industrial construction projects, refinery shutdowns, and heavy industrial environments. What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- NEBOSH IGC Certification or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience after NEBOSH certification
- Previous experience in SABIC projects or petrochemical industries is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of HSE regulations, industrial safety systems, and risk management
- Good communication, leadership, and reporting skills
Additional certifications such as IOSH, OSHA, First Aid, or Fire Safety training will be an added advantage.
Your Main Responsibilities
Maintaining HSE Compliance
You will be responsible for ensuring that all site activities comply with SABIC HSE standards, company safety policies, and local regulations. The role requires close monitoring of daily operations to maintain a safe and accident-free workplace.
Implementing Safety Procedures
The selected candidate will help develop, review, and implement HSE procedures, safety manuals, and workplace safety programs. You will play an important role in strengthening the company’s overall safety culture.
Conducting Risk Assessments
You will carry out Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Hazard Identification studies to identify workplace risks and ensure proper preventive measures are in place.
Site Inspections & Safety Monitoring
Daily safety inspections, audits, and site patrols will be part of your responsibilities. You must ensure proper PPE usage, safe work practices, and immediate correction of unsafe acts or conditions.
Managing Permit to Work Systems
The role involves monitoring and verifying permits related to:
- Hot Work
- Confined Space Entry
- Work at Height
- Excavation Activities
- Electrical Isolation & LOTO Procedures
- Lifting Operations
A strong understanding of SABIC Permit to Work procedures is essential.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
You will investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, prepare detailed reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Safety Training & Awareness
The Safety Officer will conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, HSE awareness sessions, and emergency response training for employees and contractors.
Emergency Preparedness
You will assist in organizing emergency drills such as fire drills, evacuation exercises, rescue operations, and spill response activities to ensure site readiness at all times.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintaining accurate HSE documentation is an important part of the role, including:
- Safety inspection reports
- Incident records
- Training logs
- Compliance reports
- PTW documentation
- Audit reports
