Job Description
We’re looking for a hands-on and driven Machine Shop Manager to lead our small CNC production team. This is a key position for someone who enjoys being involved on the shop floor, understands machining inside out, and knows how to keep production moving efficiently while motivating a team.

About the Role
As Shop Manager, you’ll take ownership of daily CNC operations—from planning jobs and preparing quotations to supporting production and maintaining quality. You’ll work closely with your team and management to make sure work flows smoothly and deadlines are met.
This role suits someone who likes rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, and leading by example.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Read and understand engineering drawings and prepare accurate quotations
- Book confirmed jobs and plan workloads to keep production running smoothly
- Stay actively involved on the shop floor in a subcontract CNC environment
- Act as the bridge between management and the production team, guiding daily priorities
- Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors (with occasional site visits)
- Help maintain and improve quality standards across machining operations
- Take full ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
What We’re Looking For
- Strong technical background in machining and CNC production
- Confident reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings
- Experience with estimating, pricing, and understanding commercial impact
- Clear communication skills and ability to work closely with shop floor teams and external partners
- Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement
- Well-organized and flexible, able to balance quoting, planning, and supplier coordination
