Full-Time Experienced Commissioning Engineer Needed for Refinery and Petrochemical Projects | Apply Now
Job Description
We’re currently searching for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our project team on major refinery and petrochemical developments. This is a long-term opportunity for a hands-on professional who understands plant start-up, system readiness, and the critical importance of safety during commissioning phases.
If you’ve been part of refinery or petrochemical start-ups and know what it takes to move a project from mechanical completion to smooth operation, we’d like to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll be deeply involved in preparing systems for safe start-up and ensuring everything operates as designed. From pre-commissioning activities to final performance testing, your role will be essential in delivering a successful and safe plant handover.
You’ll work closely with construction teams, vendors, QA/QC, and operations personnel to make sure every system is properly tested, documented, and ready for operation.
This role suits someone who is technically strong, calm under pressure, and confident troubleshooting complex mechanical and control systems in live project environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Planning and carrying out pre-commissioning activities such as air blowing, water flushing, steam blowing, and chemical cleaning
- Performing commissioning tasks including tightness testing, refractory dry-out, system drying, nitrogen purging, and inserting
- Reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and technical drawings to define commissioning scope
- Verifying mechanical completion and ensuring systems are ready for start-up
- Coordinating closely with construction, vendors, and subcontractors for system handovers
- Troubleshooting rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors during start-up
- Supporting loop checks, functional tests, and control system verification
- Participating in safety reviews, risk assessments, and SIMOPS meetings
- Preparing commissioning reports, punch lists, and final documentation packages
- Assisting during plant start-up, stabilization, and initial operation phases
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings both technical strength and practical site experience.
- Minimum 10 years of commissioning experience in refinery or petrochemical projects
- Strong background in pre-commissioning and full commissioning cycles
- Hands-on experience with rotating equipment, instrumentation, and control systems
- Solid understanding of commissioning procedures and Oil & Gas safety standards
- Confident reading and interpreting PFDs and P&IDs
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Strong English communication skills
Beyond technical skills, we value professionals who are proactive, detail-focused, and able to work collaboratively across disciplines.
