Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Assistant Manager – Procurement to join our team in Qatar. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about building strong supplier relationships, managing procurement operations efficiently, and ensuring projects receive the right materials at the right time and cost.
About the Role
As an Assistant Manager – Procurement, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process for MEP and construction projects from start to finish. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that materials and equipment are sourced efficiently and delivered on schedule.
The successful candidate should have excellent negotiation skills, strong commercial awareness, and extensive knowledge of construction and MEP materials, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement of MEP and construction materials for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Source reliable suppliers and manufacturers and build long-term business relationships.
- Obtain quotations, evaluate proposals, and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with project teams to understand material requirements and ensure timely procurement.
- Prepare purchase orders and monitor the status of orders until delivery.
- Track market trends and material prices to secure the best value for the company.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure materials meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficient procurement strategies.
- Maintain procurement records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Resolve procurement-related issues and ensure uninterrupted material supply to project sites.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of procurement experience, preferably within the MEP and construction industry.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and vendor negotiations.
- Sound knowledge of construction materials and MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical components.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement or ERP systems.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
