Job Description
We are looking for an experienced HSE Engineer to join our project team. We are searching for a motivated and safety-focused professional who can help maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across ongoing construction activities.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience in construction site safety, HSE inspections, risk assessments, contractor coordination, and environmental compliance. About the Role
As an HSE Engineer, you will play an important role in creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all site personnel. You will be responsible for monitoring daily site activities, identifying potential hazards, conducting inspections, and ensuring that all work is carried out according to approved safety procedures and regulations.
You will work closely with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and workers to promote a strong safety culture across the project.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across construction sites.
- Ensure all site activities comply with Bahraini regulations, company policies, and international HSE standards.
- Conduct routine site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions to prevent accidents and incidents.
- Follow up with contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with approved HSE procedures.
- Organize toolbox talks, safety meetings, emergency drills, and site safety awareness programs.
- Support site teams in maintaining safe working practices at all times.
- Inspect scaffolding, lifting equipment, machinery, electrical tools, access systems, and other safety-critical equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is properly certified, maintained, and safe for use.
- Maintain accurate records related to incidents, inspections, training, PPE distribution, and compliance documentation.
- Participate in incident investigations and prepare detailed reports when required.
- Coordinate with security teams to ensure proper site access control and compliance with safety procedures.
- Assist management in improving overall HSE performance across the project.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent HSE certification is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles within construction or engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and environmental regulations.
- Experience in conducting safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multicultural teams and site personnel.
- Client-side or consultancy experience will be an added advantage.
