Job Description
We are currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Planning Engineer to join a well-established industrial company in Saudi Arabia. This is a great opportunity for professionals who have a strong background in maintenance planning, shutdown coordination, SAP systems, and industrial plant operations.
The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure smooth plant operations, improve equipment reliability, and minimize downtime. The role requires someone who can work closely with maintenance teams, operations departments, procurement staff, and contractors to ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Candidates with experience in industrial plants, oil & gas, petrochemical facilities, manufacturing industries, power plants, steel industries, or heavy engineering environments are encouraged to apply.
About the Role
As a Planning Engineer, you will play an important role in supporting day-to-day maintenance operations and shutdown activities within the plant. You will be responsible for preparing maintenance schedules, coordinating manpower and materials, monitoring work progress, and ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out according to operational and safety standards.
This position requires strong organizational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Coordinate plant shutdown and turnaround operations
- Prepare detailed job plans, maintenance schedules, and resource requirements
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and procurement teams
- Use SAP PM system for maintenance planning, reporting, work orders, and tracking activities
- Monitor maintenance progress and ensure work is completed within planned timelines
- Prepare maintenance reports, shutdown progress reports, and performance updates
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
- Support efforts to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Assist in spare parts planning and maintenance resource coordination
- Participate in maintenance meetings and shutdown planning discussions
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Relevant diploma holders with strong maintenance planning experience may also apply
- Certification in Planning & Scheduling (CPSP or equivalent) is preferred
- Previous experience in maintenance planning, shutdown coordination, or plant maintenance operations
- Strong working knowledge of SAP PM systems
- Experience in industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industry sectors will be an advantage
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is an added advantage
- Good English communication skills required; Arabic knowledge will be beneficial
